How to maintain your hair extensions

Its important to establish an aftercare routine to ensure you get the most out of your hair extensions. In this article we want to share some ideas on products and regimens you can implement to properly care for your hair extensions.

Our hair extensions and wigs are made from 100% human hair, this means that in order to care for them you must treat them as you would your own hair. Keeping them moisturised and detangling there with proper tools are a big part of the picture. Read more to find out how.

Moisture
Without proper moisture your hair extensions will become dry and brittle leading to breakage and split ends. The best source of moisture is water which is why we recommend treating your extensions to a deep condition every 10 days with a replenishing treatment. A great at home product to use is Pantene Expert Collection Keratin Repair, 2 minutes Restorative Mask.

Daily use of heat appliances is one of the main causes of dry hair extensions. Not many people realise that heat dries out the hair making it more prone to split ends and breakage. This is one of the main reasons hair extensions loose the soft shiny look which is visible when you first purchase them. A great way to prevent this is to style with heatless methods. Try straightening your hair by blow drying with a flat brush on a cool heat setting and Flexi rods can help create long lasting curls. Try implementing one of these methods and see what happens!

Detangling
Improper detangling methods can cause shedding, dry ends and permanently damage the cuticle of your hair extensions. This is so easy to avoid by using the correct tools to tame your mane. Denman brushes, wide tooth combs, paddle brushes and tangle teasers are great tools to safely detangle your hair and still maintain softness and luster.
